Custom Designs are created using an extensive collection of measurements designed for each individual client. You may download a measurment chart from the pdf below the shopping gallery. This chart is designed specifically for measurments used in Dress Forms Design Studio Designs. If someone is measuring you for one of our designs make sure you go over how to take these measurements.
Ready to Wear, Off the Rack, Manufacturered, or Special Order gowns are not custom and not couture even if they say they are. Please understand this. Wherever you order your RTW you will need to take a few measurements to decide what size you will order. Unless you order a custom gown, all other gowns are selected on Bust, Waist, Hips and some Hollow to Hem Measurements. These gowns almost always need alterations so be sure to read our Alteration Tips in the above menu. Most retail stores do not educate their customers on the process so be an educated consumer. Make sure you order your gown off of your current measurments even if you are planning to loose weight. Order larger if you are gaining weight, pregnant, starting a hormonal medication or if you have any other special need.
To take your measurments remember the following:
- Measure over proper undergarments not bulky clothing.
- Hold the tape measure snug, but not tight. Be honest.
- You may wear a size or two bigger in Formal Gowns. They can run small. It is just a number.
- If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact us for assistance.
- If you have a fit issue, also contact us about special ordering and measuring.
- Order for your largest measurement.
- Have someone else measure you.
