Spring Martha Pullen School of Art Fashion Design Classes

I am looking forward to meeting new students and friends in just a few days at MPSOAF. Here is a little teaser of what I will be teaching all week. Register for one or take all of my classes.

On Monday I will be teaching a one day pre-class. In the morning my students will be making my famous Trendy Stretch Lace Bodice that has been so popular at many events, as well as being featured in Sew It All Magazine and Sew It All TV. Each time I teach this there is a little something new and different for my students. I love showing my stretch binding trim and the coversitch technique. Martha Pullen students will be using a new polka dot fabric. In the afternoon we will continue our lessons in fashion stretch fabric making this great convertible skirt/dress/top! Everyone will leave class with two additions to their wardrobe- guaranteed. This is a fun, carefree environment and a great warm up to the week of classes- plus you get to hear all my corny jokes.

On Tuesday and Wednesday I am super excited to offer a new class featuring some of my most treasured skills in measuring the body, drafting from a sloper or pattern block, sewing a fit sample, fitting and sewing. WOW! we have a lot to pack into two days. This will be an intense time, but we always have great fun and learn all sorts of things that will improve your sewing. The class is  titled Fashion Gored Skirt, but it is so much more. I wish I could sign up for this class. (I have some special EXTRAS planned for my students including custom hand cut oak tag slopers for everyone to take home, and I ordered spools of a brand new high end rayon Japanese Piping that is simply YUMMY!).

Finally on Thursday- Sunday it's the official 4-day Fashion Boot Camp School. My absolute favorite thing to do and teach is draping. What is a better exercise in creativity then a plain dress form, a plain piece of cloth, some pins and your imagination. The BEST thing about this school is you get me for FOUR WHOLE days!!!!  Thursday we will spend the day draping and learning the basics, as well as some free design time. Friday we will touch on intensive measuring, draping our own design, pattern adjustments, and truing the pattern. Saturday and Sunday is full of fitting, sewing and so much more. Bring your creative appetite and be ready for an intense, fun and hands on time. Everyone is class receives some lovely silk blouse weight shantung in black and white. There are a few parameters but everyone has the opportunity to create their own blouse design. This is a sample of what I did with my fabric. Sure you can copy me or you be the designer and create your own.

I have so many other things planned for class. I have some great new measuring worksheets that I know my students will love, don't forget the Designer's Circle Fashion Award, and I also have the "golden scissors" (well you have to be there to see what this is about). Anyway, I can't wait to teach at Martha Pullen School of Art Fashion in a few short days. See you there.

Special thanks to Baby Lock sewing machines for sponsoring my programs, believing in me, bringing in my trunk show and listening to all my crazy sewing ideas! BABY LOCK . . . FOR THE LOVE!!!!!!!
