I would like to announce the debut of my new Holiday 2014 McCall Pattern #7048 available in stores and online NOW! IF you are looking for something fun to create for the holidays and new year, this would be a lovely design. I intentionally designed it so you can mix and match fabrics, insert special details and style it up or down for evening or everyday wear.
View A includes a 2-piece design with optional lace overlay on the skirt and an inset in the bodice. Other ideas for the bodice inset include, textural effects like using Texture Magic, embroidery, Pin tucking and more. The lace I used in this design is the same lace as you see in a famous designer’s advertising (Hint think D&G). I specially sourced this and I have about 15 yards left if anyone is interested please email my studio firstname.lastname@example.org.
View B is a 1-piece dress that was created using lightweight wool and silk fabrics. This is really a design you can dress up or down and mix and match fabrics and trims. I am currently working on a pinstriped shirting for the bodice and a suiting weight skirt fabric for the bottom for an everyday work look. Of course you can wear a jacket with this, fur bolero, sequin jacket, fancy jewelry or more.
Now I know most patterns are created to model size, but what is a model size?? We are all different so my patterns feature special markings the divide the pattern into smaller areas of measurement so you can truly customize your pattern prior to sewing.
TIP: I always recommend sewing a muslin fit sample to check all the details and fit prior to cutting your fashion fabric.
All measurements correspond to my new book Create the Perfect Fit: Measuring and Pattern Fitting for Real Sewing Solutions and my online Craftsy classes which you can join by clicking through the link on my website.
CONTEST: To kick off the holidays I have an autographed copy of my book, my patterns, my new Sew-Cals sewing machine decals and some other goodies to give away to one lucky winner and to complete my Book Blog Tour. Thanks to all the sewing bloggers who did a book review and give away. To enter please go to my FB page at Designer Joi and tell me why you should win. I will have one of my sewlebrity friends pick a winner from submissions and announce the winner December 5th! Be watching for my new website later in December and some really cool stuff that I will be sharing!
