In a twist of fate, a Victorian Manor that Joi looked at as a location for her business over 20 years ago, is now a dream BNB and the officially recommended Manor of Designer Joi for her local events. This is just an amazing atmosphere for your sewing vacation.
Students from the Sewing Factory enjoy private rooms with the ability to socialize with other event guests. Check out the website for availability. Book early as the Manor fills up during Sewing Holiday Events.

From downtown; Simply head over to Floyd Blvd and head north into Old Town Leeds. Sewing Factory is on the left at 4011 Floyd Blvd just past the Walmart.
From the Lakeport Commons hop on the bypass and head East. Take the 41st street exit and follow that around to HWY 75. Turn right and head north a short distance and turn onto 41st street just before Jolly Time Popcorn. Follow around to the Dollar Store. Turn right and then the Sewing Factory is on the next block on the Left.
Of course use your GPS for precise directions.
You can find a list of lodgings in downtown Sioux City here. There are many restaurant and shopping options in the Lakeport Commons off the bypass so this would be a great option for lodging during your stay.
Hotel is not included in the Sewing Holiday registration price and you are responsible for making your own arrangements.
UBER: Uber is available and our Studio assistant Dee Dee is a registered UBER driver. Contact the studio for her direct phone number. If you use the app you won’t get her.
It’s always fun to check out areas attractions when traveling to a new city. If you are arriving early, you may find yourself wondering what to do with your free time. Maybe you’d like to grab a bite to eat at one of our local restaurants, take a look around one of our shopping centers, or get a piece of Sioux City culture at one of our local attractions.
Whatever your interests, there are a lot of features very unique to Sioux City. Stoney Creek Hotel is in the heart of Downtown Sioux City, conveniently and most things are within walking distance from the hotel. Visit our Downtown Partnerswebsite for a business directory, and click the map to your left to help you get a lay of the land.
Some of Joi’s favorite places to visit include:
Sioux City SUX airport is easy and convenient. It is a smaller airport so you want to book early for best pricing and availability. It is über convenient because it is 5 minutes from downtown and most hotels have a free shuttle. There are limited flights in and out each day on one airline (American) so be aware of this and again, book early for best selection.
NEW: 2017 We now offer flights to Dallas from SUX airport so check out those flights as an option.
SEATING TIP: My favorite seat is 17A at the back of the plane. If you want any chance of having a row to yourself on an early bird flight this is it. Other good seats are right at the front. There is usually a small fee to snag these. HOWEVER, due to limited flights SUX flights are almost always FULL!
Our airline is American and the hub is Chicago. We are a fast 45 minute flight to & from Chicago. When leaving Sioux City to return home most of you will take the early bird which leaves around 6am which I hate, but you have short layovers in Chicago and can pretty much be anywhere by noon. You do NOT need to arrive at the airport 2 hours early in SUX because you will be the only one there. 45 minutes to an hour is fine.
Lastly, we are about 90 minutes up the interstate I-29 from the Omaha Epply Airfield which is a much bigger airport with many airlines and many flight and time options. You can rent a car, and drive up to Sioux City. If you want to share a rental car email the studio and we will try to pass along names of other attendees taking this option, however, we cannot make arrangements for you.
