This pattern is a sloper pattern tool and template for use with Designer Joi Pattern Design & Fitting Lessons and classes, either live or on the JoiTV Video Player, Facebook, YouTube, Perfect Pattern and Fit Club, and other platforms. Skip the busywork in pattern fitting and design. You don’t need to rely on finding repetitive patterns across various pattern brands. Instead, learn to use a basic sloper to match your body proportion and then pattern and fit a custom pattern. This is not a stylized pattern (not yet), but a sloper with the core body, bust, and waist darts. This pattern features a bodice front, a bodice back, and sleeves. Once this pattern is fitted to your body, Joi will show you how to make a master copy that you can use repeatedly with new designs. Of course, if you want to use this with commercial patterns, you can do so in this fashion.
Important: The sloper has become popular in recent years, with many “experts” popping up to teach fit and design. It is an excellent tool, but some false promises are being presented. A sloper is not a cure-all in design, and understanding what it can and cannot do is essential for your success and satisfaction. Joi has been creating slopers, designing with slopers, using them in pattern production, and writing her books and instructions for over 30 years. She uses slopers as a starting pattern for all her custom work in her design studio. She will share skills based on solid years of sewing implementation in numerous real-life scenarios, not just online novelty.

The PDF workbook is a guide to this pattern, including some or all of the following worksheets: workbook cover, permissions, printing instructions, size chart, pattern card, design detail checklist, fitting tips and tricks, measurement charts, customizing the flat pattern, fabric layout, and a sewing steps outline. some creative options. This pattern includes a basic outline of sewing instructions and can be sewn as a standalone pattern, but some details may be omitted. For example, adding a zipper may be referenced, but the specific steps for adding a zipper are not included; however, Joi designs her patterns for interactive instruction, and this pattern and workbook are meant to be used with the companion video class for complete step-by-step detailed instruction (hours of videos just for this single pattern) with in-depth details that we are not able to put in the workbook.
